Focused on the will, not the ram

Now, I'm going to speculate here. I don't know that God didn't just produce a ram where Abraham and Isaac were when Abraham was ready to sacrifice his only son. It could have been, *POOF*, and there's a ram in a thicket.

But we read that Abraham was doing this by faith. He wasn't looking for alternative ways to carry out the message God had given him. As they spent the time needed to prepare the alter for the sacrifice, was Abraham looking around for a ram?

He was faithful. And he didn't stop until God spoke again and changed the task for Abraham to perform.

We still hear God's voice today, as revealed through the Spirit through the scriptures. How often do we take out eyes and ears off His voice to look for alternatives, ways to get around what He's asked us to do? If you walked by a thicket and saw a ram caught there, would you still sacrifice your only son?
